Grieghallen, foyer

Edvard Grieg Guttekor turns fifteen, and we're celebrating with an anniversary concert in the foyer of Grieghallen! At the concert, you will hear samples from the choir's fifteen-year history performed by the current members.

The boys' choir's founder and permanent conductor, Håkon Matti Skrede, will be the presenter and talk about the choir's history, present and the road ahead, which includes a tour to South Africa in January.

Welcome to celebrate with us!

Edvard Grieg Guttekor was founded on September 12, 2008 and is affiliated with Ung i Kor. In 2019, the choir changed its name from Bergen Guttekor to Edvard Grieg Guttekor and became affiliated with Edvard Grieg Kors training program.

Members are boys aged 6 years and up who live in Bergen and the surrounding area. The members are divided into three different choirs:

The aspirant choir: Members of the aspirant choir are students from 1st grade onwards. Aspirants should have an interest in singing and music.

The main choir: Members are admitted to the main choir from the aspirant choir when they are about 10 years old. In special cases, members may be admitted directly to the main choir. Admission to the main choir requires a professional assessment from the conductor and/or an approved audition.

Men's voices: The male voices are initially recruited from the main choir boys during and after the voice change.

OUR VISION
Through quality and excellence, Edvard Grieg Guttekor aims to develop cultural awareness, respect and self-discipline. Musical learning helps to develop leadership, cooperation and communication skills in young people. We want to preserve the magical but short time in a boy's life when his voice is clear and pure, and in such a way that it has positive ripple effects both for himself and society. Edvard Grieg Guttekor will ensure that the artistic quality remains at a high international level, and be good ambassadors for Bergen and Norway.
