The mezzo-soprano Eva B. Landro grew up in Southern Norway, in Oslo and in Nairobi. Bergen has now become her new home, after last year she was permanently employed as 1st alto in the professional vocal ensemble Edvard Grieg Kor.

Now in January, Eva is the first in the spring series with Opera in the library, and she has selected some of her musical favourites, which also show off the great range she has as a singer: We get to travel all the way to the cradle of opera in Italy with songs by Monteverdi, we also meet Eva i.a. as the psychic Haugtussa in Grieg and Garborg's well-known works, before she switches to rare contemporary tones in the cabaret style of the American William Bolcolm. Plus other surprises!

Eva has also invited three singers as guests during the concert, in two different features. Two of them are her own colleagues from Edvard Grieg Kor, Tyler David Ray (tenor) and David Hansford (bass), while the third is the Bergen tenor Stian Økland.

Click here to reserve your place (free tickets). We hope to be able to put more tickets on sale in due course.

Note that this time the concert takes place in the Music Department on the 2nd floor, and not in the cafe Amalies Hage. Subject to change of time and place due to the corona situation.

General about this series
This is the third spring Bergen National Opera organizes the series Opera in the library - in collaboration with Bergen Public Library. Here both established singers can develop, and young talent can be brought to the fore. BNO also wants these concerts to be an unceremonious door opener for those who do not know opera very well before. This also leaves room for other musical genres, such as romances and musical numbers. The concerts are free, but the number of places is limited.
