David Hansford
David Hansford is educated at the Royal College of Music International Opera School in London, and now lives in Bergen. David has performed extensively in the UK, in roles that include Daland in The Flying Dutchman, Colline La Boheme and Sarastro in several productions of The Magic Flute. He has also shaped leading roles in several newly written operas.
After he moved to Norway, David has been a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Lera Auerbach's The Infant Minstrel and his Peculiar Menagerie, Beethoven's Choral Fantasia, Thiven in Grieg's Peer Gynt ), Bergen National Opera (Yamadori/Bonzo in Madama Butterfly, Montano in Otello , Bear Keeper/Inquisitor/Tsar Ivan in Candide ), Bergen Domkor (Jesus in Johannes Passion, Christus in Matthäus Passion, Monteverdi's Vespers Basso Profondo in Rautavaara's Vigilia, Jesus in Pärt's Passio ), Collegium Musicum (Handels Dixit Dominus , Bach's Christmas Oratorio ), Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Yamadori in Madama Butterfly ) and the Philip Glass ensemble (Basso Profondo soloist in Powaqqatsi ) during the Bergen Festival. He is also a permanent member of the professional vocal ensemble Edvard Grieg Kor.
